Snow Ordinance Changes

The Village of Lansing has made several revisions to our snow ordinance in order to provide timely snow removal for residents and visitors to Lansing.
Public works staff clears streets of snow and ice to promote safe vehicular travel. Residential and commercial property owners are asked to clear their sidewalks within 24 hours of a storm’s end so pedestrians can walk safely.

In its simplest form, the ordinance reads:

  • Everyone must park on the Even Numbered Side of the Street on Even Snow Days by 8am.
  • Everyone must park on the Odd Numbered Side of the Street on Odd Snow Days by 8am.
  • If a Resident has a Driveway, please park there until the snow is cleared.
For Example of it snows on the 2nd, please park on the even numbered side of your street. And if it snows on the 31st, please park on the odd numbered side of the street until the snow is cleared.

All of this is applicable when the snowfall is 2 inches or more!
