Something Different for Lansing

911 Center

Lansing Fire department radio equipment has been upgraded to multi-channel, programmable radios, equipped with transmitter identifiers for personnel safety.

Every fire station, fire apparatus, ambulance, fire officer, and command vehicle, are equipped with state-of-the-art radios to keep them accessible in any emergency.

All fire and EMS personnel are equipped with radio pagers for notification of emergencies, no matter where they are in the community.

A computer network has been developed to link all four fire stations for faster and more efficient data transfer.

Our new pumper is equipped with a headset system to allow for communication among the responding crew, as well as between the officer in charge of the apparatus and our dispatch center. It has proven to be such an improvement, that we are currently studying the feasibility of retro- fitting our current apparatus as well.

Additional communication equipment is planned for the communications center to improve our inter-operability with other agencies, in the event of a disaster of any type.
